Basílica de Santa María de Guadalupe

Basílica de Santa María de Guadalupe
  • Basilica

This important basilica in Mexico City is officially called Insigne y Nacional Basílica de Santa María de Guadalupe. This shrine is devoted entirely to the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe (mystical allusion to gifts, appearances or attributes of the Virgin Mary), which makes it an important site in Christendom. The basilica is visited by over 12 million pilgrims a year. As a result, the basilica is regarded as the second most visited church in the world after St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
