Museo Franz Mayer
The Franz Mayer Museum, is one of Mexico's best-known museums of decorative arts. It was created using the private collection of the German businessman of the same name. It houses Mexico's premier decorative arts collection and holds seasonal design and photography exhibits. The collection showcases pieces from the 16th to the 19th centuries of various origins (mainly Mexico, Europe and Asia), materials and styles. The collection consists of pieces made of silver, ceramic and textiles, as well as furniture, sculptures and paintings. The building currently housing the museum is full of history. For four centuries it served as a hospital, the first in the Americas of the Order of Saint John of God.
